Easy Workouts for Beginners: The Best Quick Workouts [New Guide]

Are you starting to exercise or returning to a training plan? Then this one easy exercises for beginners helps you get started.

Easy exercises for beginners are ideal once you get the hang of it or get back into it. They help build your confidence while preventing excessive muscle soreness (aka DOMS – delayed muscle soreness).

All of the exercises listed below can be part of a home workout plan or at the gym.

I've also added bodyweight workouts so you can stick to a workout plan even if you don't have any equipment.

Workout routines for beginners: tips to get you started

Before we get into the actual workouts, let's talk about strategies to help ease that transition to training.

Because a big part of success is consistency. And to build consistency, you need the habits and knowledge to help you stick with it.

1. Find out how to make time for your workout

This is one of the hardest parts for most people because we are all so busy. But you need to figure out how to make time for exercise and what you might need to change to make it happen.

Start evaluating your schedule and see how long you can train in a day. Is it 15 minutes or an hour? Knowing how much time you have to start with can help you find the right workout duration so you don't get overwhelmed.

Then make it an appointment on your calendar.

2. Don't get frustrated by weight loss plateaus

It's fairly common to hit weight loss plateaus, especially early on. By changing your exercise routine frequently to keep your body engaged, you can see progress. (And avoid boredom.)

3. What you eat after a workout is key

A post-workout snack or high-protein meal (at least 20g) within 45 minutes of your workout is ideal for muscle recovery.

It's also the best way to prevent DOMS, that delayed super sore feeling, and get maximum results.

At the moment, after a workout, I like to choose a plant-based protein shake that I use this protein powder from Vega Sport.

4. Focus on building positive habits, not the scale

The scale is incredibly misleading.

Instead of worrying about the number on the scale, focus on your victories off the scale. Do you feel more energetic? Have you gone down in pant size even though the scale is the same? (That means you gain muscle and lose fat!)

It helps to think about the positive things and build habits around them.

For example, if you love reading the morning news on your phone, can you walk while reading? (I do this on my treadmill.)

This is called habit stacking — and it's a very effective way to build consistency and stay positive. You combine a habit you already practice that you enjoy with a new habit, making you more likely to succeed.

Easy workouts for beginners: bodyweight exercises

There are many great bodyweight workouts that help build strength. You don't need weights for strength training!

These are some of the best bodyweight exercises to combine and build home workouts for beginners:

Push-ups (Plus Variations)

Push-ups are the ultimate at-home chest and tricep workout.

But I know they can be intimidating and heavy.

That's why I made this simple video to progress your push-ups:

You can start with something simpler like wall push-ups or incline push-ups, and then work your way down to the floor for knee push-ups or full push-ups.

tricep dips

You can use any chair, bench, or even a bed frame for this, and it helps get rid of "arm fat" or "bat wings" (why do we use such horrible terms for our bodies?).

To make them easier, keep your feet closer to your body and bend them 90 degrees. The further you stretch your legs, the more difficult it becomes.

Bent-over row (with household items)

Bent-over rows work your lats, middle back (rhomboids), and biceps. They are killers!

You can easily do this exercise with whatever you have around the house. I like to reuse milk jugs - you can fill them with water, dirt or sand to add more weight.

reverse row

This is a great upper body exercise that also targets your core. It's also the perfect exercise to start building a pull-up.

You can use anything with a tangible edge, e.g. B. a table or a door frame. Here I use bars I had at home:

Again, as with dips, the farther your feet are (or the lower you are to the floor), the more difficult the exercise becomes. Reverse rowing with a door frame would be easiest because you're not fighting gravity as much.

squats

The ultimate leg workout! If you do it right, you can build up that booty and tone your thighs.

The key is to keep your chest up, your tailbone down, and your core tight.

Sumo squats, in particular, are my favorites for beginners because they can help you target your glutes more easily by working through your heels.

lunges

Lunges are one of the most important exercises for mobility and stability in everyday life. They help activate your core for balance and work to build stronger quads, glutes, and hamstrings.

If lunges are difficult, you can hold onto something like a chair.

glute bridge

Not only will this exercise help you build glutes, but it also targets your hamstrings and core.

Keep your navel pulled towards your spine the whole time and squeeze your glutes at the top. If your knees come forward when you push up, you need to move your feet a little further away from your butt.

plank

Plank and its many variations help tone your entire core - shoulders, chest and arms included.

You can do planks in full extension, on your knees, or on your elbows. The easiest version is on your elbows and knees, with your back straight and your bottom low. Side plank is also a great variation to hit your obliques.

Bent Leg Raises

Keeping your navel pulled toward your spine and maintaining this engagement, bend your knees at a 90-degree angle, and then straighten your legs to levitate.

This helps build core strength and lower abs.

jumping jacks

A simple cardio exercise that doubles as a back and leg warm-up if you do it right! Keep your hands tight and remember to engage your shoulders/lats and glutes as you perform the exercise.

Easy workout at home for beginners

Okay, now you know some of the exercises, and that's great. But what about merging?
